Participants discussed challenges in communicating with partners strategically in their work, and shared recommendations for overcoming these challenges. Guest speakers included Jackie Dionne, Melissa Heinen, Amy Lopez, and Luther Talks from the Minnesota Dept. of Health, who discussed sharing data on suicide deaths with community members and reaching out to specific populations, including Native Americans and the Lao community. Jessica McHugh from the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health shared how Massachusetts handled the impact of a prominent negative documentary about substance abuse in their state by working with partners.
