  • Targeting the ED to Reduce Suicide and Substance Abuse Webinar

    Wednesday, March 14, 2012 - 1:00pm   Webinar
Arizona is partnering with Emergency Departments (ED) statewide to decrease morbidity and mortality related to substance abuse and suicides. The program is part of a larger effort by the Arizona Department of Health Services to enhance prevention by improving integration across the medical and behavioral health systems. Please join us for a free Webinar with Lisa Shumaker, Manager of Prevention Services, Arizona Department of Health Services, to learn about her office's ED-focused initiative, including the use of an online training simulation to better prepare ED staff to identify and screen patients for underlying substance abuse and suicide risk. Ms. Shumaker is the administrator for approximately 125 substance abuse and suicide prevention programs statewide and oversees the DBHS Suicide Prevention Initiative. This initiative is funded in part by SAMHSA's Garret Lee Smith State and Tribal Youth Suicide Prevention Grant.
