SPRC Suicide Prevention Regional Planning Conference - Regions 1 & 2

June 6 - 8, 2005
Meriden, Connecticut

About the Conference

Conference Objective: To advance the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention (NSSP) and provide learning, networking and planning opportunities to key stakeholders and advocates in each state.

Building on successful regional conferences conducted in Pennsylvania, Oregon, Colorado and New Orleans in 2005 and 2003, SPRC's conference with Public Health Service Regions 1 and 2 offered a tailored training and planning opportunity to key stakeholders in suicide prevention efforts in each of the participating states. Conference attendees included suicide prevention planners and advocates at the national, regional, state, and community levels who were interested in advancing the NSSP at the state level through the development and/or further implementation of state suicide prevention plans.

The conference sought to achieve its broad goal by offering information presented in a variety of formats, inviting national and local experts to share their knowledge and experiences, and providing a venue for a diverse group of state suicide prevention planners and advocates to come together and collaborate.
