SAMHSA Suicide Prevention Grantee Technical Assistance Meeting

Forging Our Legacy:  Creating and Sustaining A Cultural Shift on Campus

Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday

The theme of this year’s meeting is sustainability.  SAMHSA and SPRC are committed to helping grantees leave a legacy by working with them to enhance community collaborations and partnerships, develop staff capacity to implement evidence based programs and lead change, and deepen their understanding of various strategies to sustain their programs.

In developing this agenda, we considered feedback from the 2007 meeting and from a panel of 10 mostly Cohort II project directors who shared their insights, ideas, and concerns with us.  We also incorporated feedback we received in response to an email we sent asking Cohort I project directors for their ideas for the meeting.

In these emails and conversations, we heard concerns about sustainability expressed again and again.  The meeting agenda is designed to address those concerns and to provide extensive opportunities both for us to learn from grantees' innovative and creative approaches and for grantees to learn from each other.  Every break-out session and most of the plenary sessions include time to hear from grantees, from Cohort I in particular.  All of the break-out sessions are also designed to encourage an exchange of ideas, successes, and concerns among all participants, so come prepared to talk about what you have been doing!

Additionally, meeting participants are asked to take a few minutes before arriving at the meeting to familiarize themselves with the key elements of sustainability described in a September 2007 SPRC webinar presentation.
