If all goes as planned, Idaho will have a nationally certified suicide prevention hotline by the end of the year. Organizers have met initial funding goals, found a location, and established initial community partnerships. At present, Idaho is the only state without a nationally certified suicide prevention hotline; it has been without one since the end of 2006. Research conducted by Idaho State University predicts that a hotline in Idaho would receive nearly 5,000 calls a year.
