The Behavioral Health Barometer series uses indicators such as those measured through the National Survey on Drug Use and Health and National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services. The report presents national data about the prevalence of suicidal thoughts, serious mental illness, substance use, and underage drinking as well as the information about treatment for these conditions. Region- and State-level barometers contain valuable insight into the behavioral health needs and the unique challenges faced by States and communities. These reports are intended to assist public health authorities and others determine the best ways of meeting behavioral health care needs and disparities among various communities.
