Recent Developments:
- The program on Alcohol and Substance Abuse prevention conducts training with youth and community groups. Information is being distributed through radio programs and interviews highlighting the relationship between suicide and alcohol and other substance abuse.
- Maternal and Child Health in collaboration with the Division of Human Services will conduct community needs assessments on activities which aim to prevent suicide
History of Suicide Prevention Efforts:
- The Marshall Islands have implemented health and education and promotion campaigns on mental health and suicide prevention. These campaigns have been implemented in schools and community groups such as churches and youth groups.

There were 17 documented complete suicide cases for the RMI for 2003.
Out of this number, only 2 were among the 15-19 age group.
