Recent Developments:
- 2008 – The Idaho Youth Suicide Prevention Project partnered with SPAN Idaho, universities and community organizations to implement customized awareness campaigns in each region of the state.
- 2008 – The Idaho Youth Suicide Prevention Project , in partnership with Better Todays. Better Tomorrows for Children's Mental Health trained more than 1200 professionals, community partners and advocates statewide from June 2007-June 2008.
- 2008 – SPAN Idaho is holding its annual conference in Caldwell, Idaho on September 11 to 12th, 2008
- 2008 – The Idaho Council on Suicide Prevention wrote a formal report to the Governor and Legislature in November of 2007 which includes specific recommendations. The report was presented to the Governor’s Office in December of 2007 and to the Idaho State Senate in January 2008.

Legislation/Resolutions:
- 2006 – House Resolution 31 – acknowledged the seriousness of suicide by endorsing Idaho’s Suicide Prevention Plan and supporting the plan’s comprehensive approach.
- 2006 – Executive Order 8 – established the Idaho Council on Suicide Prevention to provide oversight of the state’s Suicide Prevention Plan
- 2005 – House Concurrent Resolution 17 passed. – HCR17 urged colleges of education at Idaho colleges and universities to include in the teacher education curriculum a segment concerning suicide risk factors, protective factors and suicide warning signs.
- 2003 – House Bill No. 362 – allocated $11,000 for the completion of the state suicide prevention plan
- 1994 – Executive Order 94-03 – Executive order 94-03 established the state planning council on mental health
Funding Sources:
- 2006 – Idaho State University received federal Garrett Lee Smith funding in June 2006 for the Idaho Youth Suicide Prevention Project. The goal of the project, which is based on the state plan, is to partner with organizations to reduce suicide attempts and completions among youth ages 10-24.
- The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare issued a Request for Proposal earlier in 2004 to fund implementation of the statewide suicide prevention plan; SPAN Idaho was awarded this contract in 2004
- Idaho state legislature levied the state cigarette tax revenue to provide $11,000 in funding to complete the statewide suicide prevention plan; see Legislation/Resolutions above for more information
