Legislation/Resolutions:

• Oregon Senate Bill 1129 – establishes a Youth Suicide Prevention Coordinator in the Health Division of the Department of Human Services and appropriates funding to support the position; establishes a State Technical Assistance Team for child fatalities
  
  

Funding Sources:

• 2009 – SAMHSA awarded Oregon Department of Human Services a three-year grant of over $1 million for youth suicide prevention. DHS will train more gatekeepers, develop a statewide coalition, and focus on youth who attempt suicide.
  
  
• 2006 – Youth Suicide Prevention & Early Intervention Strategy grant (SAMHSA) Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act – to State of Oregon, Department of Human Services, Public Health Division.
