• House of Representatives interim study, which included a question on suicide, was assigned to the Texas House Human Services Committee in 2002; report was written but no legislation passed

• 2005 – State grantee of Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act (SAMHSA) funding: Approximately $400,000
  
  
• The Suicide Prevention Toolkit Workshop (August 2004) was funded by a grant from the Texas Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation
