- 2009 – May 28 - 'Creating Competent School Communities for Suicide Prevention' webinar held, presented by Maureen Underwood
- 2009 – April 22 - Suicide Prevention Day held at the Capital

- 2009 – June 30 - 'Self-Injury: Testimony, Insight, and Critical Issues' webinar held, presented by Dr Scott Poland
- 2009 – May 14 - 'School Crisis Prevention and Intervention' webinar held, presented by Richard Lieberman
- 2009 – April - State Integration Project initiated. The project will focus on institutionalizing suicide prevention by integrating it into the policies, procedures, and practices of state agencies. In order to adequately address suicide, efforts must be infused throughout the services delivered by state government and into the agencies themselves.
- 2008 – September - Website of the Statewide Office of Suicide Prevention launched
- 2008 – October - $1.5 million Garrett Lee Smith Youth Suicide Prevention and Intervention grant awarded to state
- 2008 – September - The Florida Suicide Prevention Implementation Project ended, and a final report made available at http://www.helppromotehope.com/initiatives/fspi.php. Currently looking for funding to continue this initiative.
- 2008 – Suicide Prevention Annual Report released by the Statewide Office of Suicide Prevention in January; prepared by the Statewide Office of Suicide Prevention and the Suicide Prevention Coordinating Council

Legislation/Resolutions:
- 2009 – HR 9103 - Recognizes April 22, 2009 as 'Suicide Prevention Day' in Florida. Sponsored by Juan Zapata, adopted on 4/17/09.
- 2009 – HB 1443 - The bill directs the Department of Children and Family Services to establish up to three pilot projects for the purpose of reducing suicide among veterans and increasing access to services. This bill also requires the Statewide Office of Suicide Prevention, the Department of Veterans' Affairs, and the Florida National Guard to enter into partnerships with the pilot projects and community providers to implement the initiative and establishes a veterans' suicide prevention direct-support organization answerable to the Statewide Office of Suicide Prevention to assist with funding veterans' suicide prevention initiatives. Sponsored by Adam Fetterman, indefinitely postponed, died in committee on 5/2/09.
- 2009 – SB 2009 - The bill requires that, beginning with the 2009-2010 school year, each school district provide access to suicide prevention education for all instructional and administrative staff using resources approved by the Statewide Office of Suicide Prevention. Sponsored by Ted Deutch, indefinitely postponed, died in committee on 5/2/09.
- 2007 – CS/HB 139 – Florida Governor Charlie Crist signed suicide prevention bill 139 into law on May 22. The law creates the Office of Suicide Prevention as a unit within the Florida Office of Drug Control, which is housed in the Executive Office of the Governor and provides for two full time employees to work to reduce suicide in the state of Florida. This law also establishes the Suicide Prevention Coordinating Council, which is a 28-member advisory body.
