Terms and Conditions of Use Governing the SPRC Website

Education Development Center, Inc. ("EDC") maintains this website as a service to its customers. By using this website you are agreeing to comply with and be bound by the following terms, which EDC may change at any time in its discretion.

  1. The Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC) Site Is Proprietary To EDC.


  2. All of the text, images, marks, logos and other content of the SPRC site ("Site Content") is proprietary to EDC. EDC authorizes you to view, download, and print the Site Content subject to the following conditions:
    • you may only do so for your own personal and non-commercial use;

    • you may not modify the Site Content;

    • any displays or print outs of the Site Content must be marked "© Education Development Center, Inc. 2003-2005. All rights reserved."

    • you may not remove any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices that have been placed in the Site Content by EDC. Except as expressly permitted above, reproduction or redistribution of the Site Content, or any portion of the Site Content, is strictly prohibited without the prior written permission of EDC.

  3. While the Site Discusses Medical Issues, It Does Not Provide Specific Diagnosis Or Treatment Advice.
  4. The SPRC Site is designed to provide useful publications and a discussion forum for professionals, survivors, advocates and others concerned with Suicide Prevention. Information or materials obtained from the SPRC Site are for informational purposes only. The site content is not intended to provide advice or specific diagnostic or treatment recommendations for any particular patient. Such recommendations can only be provided by a qualified mental health care professional who is familiar with the patient's condition, medical history and other relevant information. Always seek the advice of your physician or mental health care provider with questions you may have regarding a medical condition.

  5. Links To Third Party Sites Are Not Endorsements.
  6. The SPRC Site contains links to third-party webs sites. The linked sites are not under the control of EDC, and EDC is not responsible for the content of any linked site. EDC provides these links as a convenience only, and a link does not imply endorsement of, sponsorship of, or affiliation with the linked site by EDC. Reliance on information provided by the SPRC site or linked sites is soley at your own risk.

  8. EDC makes no representation of any kind regarding the Site Content, or any portion thereof. All Site Content is provided in "AS IS" condition and EDC EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR USE. You use the SPRC Site at your own risk and neither EDC nor the parties who provide information and materials for publication within the Site Content will be liable for any damages, including, without limitation, incidental & consequential damages, personal injury/wrongful death, lost profits arising from your use or inability to use this Site.

  9. Applicable Law And Jurisdiction.
  10. The SPRC Website (excluding links) is controlled by EDC and operated by EDC from its offices in and around Newton, Massachusetts. While EDC has made no effort to publish the SPRC Site elsewhere, because this Site is published on the World Wide Web it is accessible in all fifty states and other countries. As each of these places has laws that may differ from those of Massachusetts and from each other, and as you and EDC both benefit from establishing a predictable legal environment in which to publish, access and use the Site, by publishing, accessing, and/or using this Site you and EDC agree that all matters arising from or relating to the use and operation of this Site will be governed by the laws of The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflicts of laws principles. You agree that all claims you may have arising from or relating to the operation or use of this Site will be heard and resolved in the courts of Boston, Massachusetts. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of such courts over you, stipulate to the fairness and convenience of proceeding in such courts, and covenant not to assert any object to proceeding in such courts. If you chose to access this Site from locations other than Boston, Massachusetts, you will be responsible for compliance with all local laws of such other location.

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold EDC, its officers, directors, trustees, employees, and agents harmless for and against any claims, actions, or demands, liabilities and settlements including without limitation reasonable legal and attorney fees resulting from, or alleged to result from, your violation of these Terms and Conditions.
