On Monday, February 7, the Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention (MCSP) hosted
"Taking Action, Preventing Suicide," the 6th Annual Suicide Prevention Awareness Event at
the State House. The event featured speakers on suicide and suicide prevention, and included
legislators, the State Commissioner of Public Health, the State Commissioner of Mental Health,
the Middlesex County District Attorney, survivors and advocates of suicide prevention.
Approximately 200 people attended.
Dr. Lloyd Potter, Director of the Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC), was one of those who
received a Leadership Award at the event for his 11 years of work in suicide prevention. Others who
received awards included Senator Jack Hart, the Harvard
Pilgrim Health Care Foundation, and the
National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of
Massachusetts.
