  • Congress Appropriates $10 Million for Youth Suicide Prevention: Congress has appropriated $10 million to youth suicide prevention initiatives as part of the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act, signed into law on October 21, 2004. The act authorized $82 million over three years to states, Indian tribes and colleges and universities for the development of youth suicide prevention and intervention programs.   • SPRC Launches 12 Additional State Suicide Prevention Web Pages: SPRC today launched State Suicide Prevention Web Pages for 12 additional states. The web pages serve as a central collection of information about suicide prevention efforts for each state and provide a forum for sharing communication and resources within and across states. Each page includes a brief history of state suicide prevention efforts, highlights of current activities, a link to the state plan, scope of the state plan, state data, legislation, resources, funding sources and more.
