Congress Appropriates $10 Million for Youth Suicide Prevention:
Congress has appropriated $10 million to youth suicide prevention initiatives as part
of the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act, signed into law on October 21, 2004. The act
authorized $82 million over three years to states, Indian tribes and colleges and
universities for the development of youth suicide prevention and intervention programs.

the 6th Annual National Survivors of Suicide Day. Simultaneous local survivor conferences

Prevention Web Pages for 12 additional
states. The web pages serve as a
central collection of information about suicide prevention efforts for each state and
provide a forum for sharing communication and resources within and across states. Each
page includes a brief history of state suicide prevention efforts, highlights of current
activities, a link to the state plan, scope of the state plan, state data, legislation,
