Dr. Feldman has a research appointment with the Veteran’s Administration and provides consultation related to suicide prevention to the MA National Guard. He conducts workshops and in-service trainings for mental health clinicians, emergency responders, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and educators on the topic of suicide through the MA Department of Public Health. He is a lecturer for UMass Memorial Healthcare’s Disaster Medicine and Emergency Medicine Departments. Dr. Feldman is nationally recognized educator and trainer. He is an approved trainer for the American Association of Suicidology, the Suicide Prevention Resource Center, and is a certified trainer for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation. He serves on the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide’s Clinical Advisory Board, and is Chair of the Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention. Workshop Overview: Suicidal behaviors are a reality for mental health professionals and a source of significant distress for them. This workshop focuses on competencies that are core to assessing and managing suicide risk and consists of: ‒Pre-workshop reading (about 20 pages) ‒6.5 hours of face-to-face training, mixture of lecture & exercises ‒Training DVD in eight segments, including demonstration of a clinical interview ‒110 page Participant Manual ‒Participant journaling ‒Q & A and discussion
