Speaker's Biography

Linda Langford, Sc.D. is an evaluation specialist at the Suicide Prevention Resource Center, co-coordinating the Best Practices Registry and providing evaluation technical assistance. She also directs violence prevention initiatives at the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse and Violence Prevention. Her work focuses broadly on strategic planning, program evaluation, and health communications with special interests in environmental approaches to prevention, social norms, practitioner-researcher collaborations, and translating research to practice. She holds a doctorate in social and behavioral science from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Philip Rodgers, Ph.D. is an evaluation specialist at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He is also co-coordinator of the Best Practices Registry (BPR) for Suicide Prevention. The purpose of the BPR is to identify and promote sound suicide prevention programs and practices. In addition, he provides technical assistance to those evaluating suicide prevention programs and to those who want to submit programs to the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices for review. Dr. Rodgers earned his doctorate in research and evaluation methodology from Utah State University.
