Dr. Lezine will also share a summary of the findings from the Attempt Survivor Workgroup held at the first National Conference for Survivors of Suicide Attempts, Healthcare Professionals, Clergy and Laity in Memphis, Tennessee.
DeQuincy Lezine is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Rochester Center for the Study and Prevention of Suicide with training specific to suicide prevention research.He completed his doctoral training in clinical psychology at UCLA. Dr. Lezine's primary focus is on using Community Based Participatory Research strategies to engage attempt survivors, suicide survivors, students and community clinicians in multiple aspects of suicide prevention research. As a suicide attempt survivor, Dr. Lezine has used his personal experience to make significant contributions to the field of suicide prevention. He serves on the Board of OASSIS and has 10 years of experience working with community coalitions in the development of suicide prevention strategies. He has also served as a representative of individuals who have attempted suicide at several national, regional, and state suicide prevention planning conferences, including the National Conference on Suicide Prevention in Reno, Nevada, in 1998 and the First National Conference for Survivors of Suicide Attempts in 2005.
